Hull Boys Sunday Football League
Under 14 Knock-Out Cup – 1st October 2006Barham Juniors 2 – 0 Hedon Rangers

Barham started the faster of the two teams and using the advantage of the slope and the wind to score two goals in ten minutes. The first came two minutes into the game with the Hedon backs being slow to respond to the threat. The second was a well aimed long range effort placed in the bottom corner of the goal. Hedon were still under the cosh for most of the first half, but managed to get the speed of the game and restricted Barham to just shots on goal from long distance.
After the break Hedon played down the hill with the wind and sun at their backs and this made a much better performance from the away team. Barham were restricted to attacking down the left wing whilst Hedon managed to get frustratingly close to the Barham goal without scoring.

Under 14 Drypool League – 5th November 2006

DCSI Sharks 1 – 0 Hedon Rangers

The Sharks started the faster of the two teams and never looked like being bettered by a Hedon side struggling to find any consistent form. The first twenty minutes saw the Sharks boss the game and concluded in a goal from an unmarked forward from a corner. Both sides had chances to score, but mostly the sides cancelled each other out for the remainder of the game.

Hedon Rangers 8 – 0 South Cave Juniors

In only the second home game of the season, Hedon started well scoring after only one minute with Adam Daddy placing the ball in the bottom right of the goal from the edge of the area. The lead was increased on seven minutes by Michael Taylor finishing well from a Liam Bryant through ball. Within five minutes Adam Daddy added his second goal, beating the keeper in exactly the same position. James Lee added a fourth goal on the half hour finishing a fast break. The Juniors were trying hard with the wind at their backs, but couldn’t get the consistency they required to mount pressure on the Hedon defence.
During the second half, South Cave found it very difficult to get the ball out of their own half against the wind and Hedon capitalised with four further goals. Ashley Charlton scored from the right before Michael Taylor rattled in his second off both posts. Adam Daddy finished his hat-trick direct from a corner, the final goal coming from a ball spilled by the goal keeper into his own net. Hedon back on the winning track at the expense of a Juniors side whose endeavours came to nothing this week, but their work rate never dropped all game.

AFC Tickton 1 – 3 Hedon Rangers

Tickton began with the wind at their backs and put pressure on the Hedon defence for a lot of the first half. Hedon responded with counter attacks and the even state of play meant both sides went close to scoring on several occasions, but neither side managed to get on the score sheet.
Within a minute of the restart, Hedon took the lead thru Michael Taylor adding the perfect finish to a through ball cutting the Tickton defence in two. The same player added a second goal three minutes later with a slick turn and sharp shot. Tickton pushed against the wind to get back into the game and were rewarded on forty seven minutes with a tap in from a cross from the left wing. The attack and counter attack play that characterised the game returned until Michael Taylor scored his third on fifty five minutes with a carbon copy of his first goal. Tickton did manage to win a penalty close to the end but the chance went unconverted.

Under 14 – Plate Competition
Hedon Rangers 5 – 1 Bricknell Rangers

With the wind behind them, Hedon made the better start and Adam Daddy scored the first goal after five minutes whipping a shot across the face of goal from the right. Bricknell battled to get in to the game and were rewarded on nineteen minutes with a well taken chip over the Hedon keeper. Within two minutes Hedon restored their lead through James Lee with a shot from a clearance off the goal line. Michael Taylor added a third goal just before half time with an accurate finish from an excellent through ball.
Bricknell began the second half well using the following wind and trying to push up at every opportunity. Hedon kept the ball on the ground and Ryan Green increased the lead on fifty minutes with a dribble round the keeper to finish well. Four minutes later Elliot Tate put the fixture beyond doubt with a tap in from an unfortunate ‘Robinson’ moment for the away side.

Hedon Rangers 7 – 3 Wolfreton AFC

Wolfreton made a bright start to the game and using the wind to best effect lobbed a ball over the Hedon defence for the lone striker to finish well in a one on one situation. A rattled Hedon challenged and passed well from a throw in for Michael Taylor to equalise within two minutes. A very even game followed for twenty minutes before Ashley Charlton scored from a corner to put Hedon in the lead. Wolfreton replied almost immediately, scoring from a defensive misunderstanding from a corner.
Hedon picked up the pace with the wind at their backs and went in front again through a precise finish from Adam Daddy with four minutes gone. A second Hedon goal followed inside three minutes when a rebound off the far post went in off a defender. Ten minutes of good play saw Wolfreton get back into the game from an unmarked attacker making the best of a free kick. Hedon responded with three further goals before the game ended. Adam Daddy added his second with another well placed finish, Michael Taylor finished well from a precise through ball and Ryan Green scored from the right side with a cross going in at the back post.

Thorngumbald Trinity 1 – 4 Hedon Rangers

Trinity playing with the sun on their backs in the first half had the better of the game. Hedon looked sluggish and allowed Trinity to be first to the ball, which Trinity exploited well. Having the upper hand, Trinity pressured the Hedon defence and got their reward on twenty minutes with a well struck free kick going over the keeper and just under the bar. Although Trinity pushed the advantage, they were unable to score further goals, but went into half time deservedly in front.
Hedon began the second half with the coach’s voice still ringing in their ears, and it seemed to make a difference. With seven minutes gone, Michael Taylor finished a move that left the Trinity Keeper injured and having to leave the field for a while to recuperate. Having equalised, Hedon began to play better football and scored two headed goals in three minutes from James South and Michael Taylor before the hour came up. With only seconds left in the game Ryan Green put the result beyond doubt for Hedon from six yards, pouncing on a loose ball in the area.
A well contested game that was literally the tale of two halves, between two sides that seemed very evenly matched on the day.

South Cave Juniors 2 – 3 Hedon Rangers

Hedon have never been happy playing at Bull Field, and have never come away with a result. The first half saw the juniors playing uphill and went in front on 13 minutes with a looping cross/shot going over the keeper into the top corner. Hedon did respond with much effort but the team could not get to grips with the speed of the ball going downhill.
Looking far more comfortable going uphill, Hedon scored three goals in ten minutes. Josh Coupland, Adam Daddy and Michael Taylor all with well struck shots providing Hedon with a little breathing space. But the juniors were not finished and when an uncleared ball bobbled about the Hedon penalty area, it was turned into the bottom corner to give the home side hope. It came too late to effect the final score though, Hedon taking the points in what was a close game.

Hedon Rangers 4-1 AFC Tickton

In a very strong cross wind, great football proved to be very difficult to produce. Hedon had the best of the wind in the first half and went into the half time break one up courtesy of James Lee with a neat chip over the goal keeper.
Both teams tried desperately to keep the ball on the floor and this worked in the favour of the home side. In a ten minute period, Hedon scored three goals. Ashley Charlton finished a good break on fifty minutes. James South weighed in with two goals from good positioning and could have had the hat-trick if one header had squeezed in at the back post. Tickton never stopped battling in midfield and their efforts were eventually rewarded with a goal with ten minutes to go with a neat shot into the bottom corner. The last ten saw action at both ends but no further scores ensued.
